Hello Again!

This is the companion to my other blog East Yorkshire Pudding (www.eyorkspud.blogspot.com.) Here I will post random photographs that I have taken myself, family photographs I have had given or borrowed, and have bought or found. Postcards will probably pop up now and again. Please feel free to comment, 'follow', or even send me something I may like to post.

I can't promise to post everyday, but I will try to do so regularly.

Something Scottish for Burns Night

Eastern side of the building.

It is privately owned, and has been converted into flats, in what I would call 'social housing', and now, as you can see, is all boarded up to prevent squatting.

He's Behind You! (11)

Last of the excerpts from the programme for 'Aladdin' 1899 - 1900;
so turn down the lime lights, pack away the greasepaints, and leave by the stage door...

...the pantomine will be back in eleven months time!

He's Behind You! (4)

The audience could follow the dialogue of the pantomine, as you will notice, they also made references to the local area and events.

Notice how the telephone number for Hull Breweries is a 'National 71'!

The advertisements are just as interesting as the programme itself!

He's Behind You!

The pantomine season is nearly over, so I thought I would share with you a programme from the 1899 - 1900 season, when 'Aladdin' was on at the Grand Theatre and Opera House, Hull.

The programme is not complete, and scanned from the photocopies I took of it when the Local Studies Library was still located in Hull Central Library and was bit of a squash! Oh, happy days!

Three Kings for Epiphany

King Henry VII

King Henry VIII

King Edward VI

I hope this isn't cheating, but I personally don't own pictures of the Tudor Kings. Henry VII fought for the crown, and won it off Richard III. Henry VIII, his son, took the crown in 1509, until his death in 1547. Edward, Henry's only surviving son by Jane Seymour took the crown at only nine years old. He died at fifteen, leaving the crown uncertain and fought over.

If you haven't taken your Christmas decorations down, you have twelve hours to do so!

After the excess's of Christmas and New Year, I am posting some photo's of Withernsea Beach, taken on the 27th December, 2011, which I hope will bring some tranquillity for a few moments.
